The physicians and caregivers of the Greater Newburyport healthcare community have launched WellportSM, an initiative aimed at enhancing the quality, efficiency, and safety of health care through advanced information technology. Developed with the assistance of the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC), WellportSM will provide technology allowing patients to more quickly and easily access key pieces of their digital health information. It will also allow physicians to collaborate more efficiently and effectively, and care for the patient as a whole. When medical professionals can share a more complete and up-to-date picture of the patient's health, there's a better chance of catching and serious and even life-threatening problems.
When seeing a new doctor, patients will have fewer worries about relaying important pieces of health information because the physician will have it electronically. And WellportSM allows the physician and patient to review the information to make sure it's up to date and accurate.
