At Anna Jaques Hospital, we are fortunate to have two International Board Certified
Lactation Consultants on staff whose wide breadth of knowledge guides women in breast
feeding. We have the highest breast feeding initiation rate of any hospital on the North
Shore of Massachusetts. Our lactation consultants visit you in the hospital to assist you
as you begin to breast feed and are available by appointment for further consultation.
If you are experiencing difficulties with breast feeding a personal appointment can be
made with one of our lactation consultants at no charge. Appointments are available
Monday through Friday by calling the Birth Center at (978) 463-1060 or the Lactation Line
at (978) 463-1079.
If you have any questions about breast feeding, you are welcome to leave these on the
Lactation Line. If they are urgent and concern your baby, we encourage you to call your
pediatrician. If your question or concern is for illness symptoms such as mastitis,
please call your obstetrician.
