Level III Trauma Center
Our Level III trauma center receives patients who have sustained physical injury caused by violence or other forces. We provide prompt assessment, resuscitation, stabilization and if necessary, prompt transfer to a Level I Trauma facility by ambulance or MedFlight helicopter. We are part of a statewide trauma system in the state and are designated as such by the Massachusetts State Office for Emergency Services and verified by the American College of Surgeons.
Our trauma center is staffed by nurses and physicians specifically trained in emergency medicine. Each of our full-time emergency physicians are board certified in emergency medicine. For your convenience we have a complete listing of physicians under Emergency Medicine in our Find a Physician section.
Who are considered trauma patients?
Trauma patients aren't just those involved in calamitous accidents or high speed rollovers we see on the news. Trauma patients are also those who fall from ladders while painting the house or trimming the bushes and sustain closed or open head injuries. They are also the elderly who fall and break a hip, pelvis, or leg and the kids who crash while riding bikes or skateboarding in their neighborhoods.
Whatever the cause, we are here to perform life-saving treatment for you and your loved ones.
