Aid Association presents $170K to hospital

NEWBURYPORT  – The Anna Jaques Aid Association kicked off its 130th anniversary at its annual meeting Thursday and presented a check for $170,000 to Mark Goldstein, president and CEO; Mary Williamson, vice president of development; and David LaFlamme, chairman of the Anna Jaques board of trustees.

The funds were designated to the Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center; two intensive care unit rotation beds; cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology system; the gift shop renovation project; and comfort teddy bears for the hospital’s young patients.

When Goldstein applauded the Aid Association for hitting another milestone fundraising goal, association President Tricia Mansfield corrected him by saying they have reached $170,000 before. He handed her $1 to bring the organization’s donation to $170,001.

At the meeting, Tricia Mansfield, 2017-2018 president, passed the baton back to Mary Ann Abbott as Aid Association president.

“As a longtime hospital supporter and former Anna Jaques Community Health Foundation trustee, Tricia has dedicated her time, talent and treasure to Anna Jaques. We thank her for steadfast support and leadership,” Williamson said.

The Aid Association’s success is attributed to annual events such as Great Chefs’ Night, the AJH gift shop, bake sales and plant sales, the art display and sales program, and the Holiday Arts & Craft Fair, to name a few.

These events reflect the important role that the Aid Association plays to bring together local businesses, community leaders, hospital supporters, and philanthropic individuals in support of Anna Jaques.

Upcoming Aid Association events include a Thanksgiving pie sale; Tree of Light Ceremony on Dec. 4, AJH Craft Fair on Dec. 6, Invitation Night Horse and Buggy Ride on Dec. 7, and Great Chefs’ Night on April 5. Visit www.ajh.org/aidassociation for details.
