Diagnostic testing

  • Diagnostic Neurology (hours by appointment) - is the scientific study of the nervous system. Anna Jaques Hospital uses several procedures to diagnose neurologic disorders or diseases.
  • Electroencephalogram (EEG) - is a procedure that records the brain's continuous, electrical activity by means of electrodes attached to the scalp.
  • Electro Diagnostic Tests (i.e., electromyography and nerve conduction velocity) - are studies that evaluate and diagnose disorders of the muscles and motor neurons. Electrodes are inserted into the muscle, or placed on the skin overlying a muscle or muscle group, and electrical activity and muscle response are recorded.
  • Pulmonary Function Laboratory and Testing - are a painless and non-invasive test that can provide early detection of a breathing problem. These tests can tell your doctor what quantity of air you breathe with each breath, how efficiently you move air in and out of your lungs, and how well your lungs are delivering oxygen to your bloodstream. Appropriate treatment can prevent disease from progressing.
