13-Year-Old Creates a Service Project To Honor Her Aunt

Spreading Joy & Support To Patients of the Anna Jaques Cancer Center

Isabelle Leger, a 13-year-old from Haverhill, is spreading joy and support to patients of the Anna Jaques Cancer Center affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center through her own personal service project.

Before the pandemic hit, Isabelle contacted the Cancer Center with hopes to give back to others in honor of her aunt who underwent cancer treatment with Dr. Jonathan Eneman at the Anna Jaques Cancer Center.

Though the pandemic postponed Isabelle’s project, she remained determined and on December 1^st donated 100 goodie bags with handwritten inspirational notes attached with phases such as: “no one fights alone” and “stay strong, you are awesome.”

The team at the Cancer Center immediately starting sharing the goodie bags, leaving one on every chemotherapy chair.

“Isabelle’s gift has brought so many smiles to the Cancer Center. Cancer is a difficult enough journey under normal circumstances but the pandemic has posed even more unique challenges – like the impact of restricting visitors during treatment. Isabelle’s words and thoughtfulness reminds our patients that they are not alone,” shared Dr. Jonathan Eneman, Medical Director of the Anna Jaques Cancer Center.
