About Dr. Sebeny

Dr. Sebeny is an Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine physician. Originally from Massachusetts, he spent nearly 18 years in Washington DC working in several areas of public health and clinical medicine. He received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences where he also received a Master's degree in Public Health. He served as a Medical Corps Officer in the US Navy for 9 years, completing his residency in Internal Medicine at National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) in Bethesda, MD, and fellowship training in Infectious Disease through a joint program at NNMC and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington DC. He also served as an infectious disease research physician in Cairo, Egypt, working in several areas of infectious disease epidemiology, research, and clinical medicine in Africa, the Middle East, and southwest Asia; his efforts were well regarded, and received a presidential award from the Republic of Djibouti in 2010.

Dr. Sebeny served on several expert committees on infectious diseases research priorities, and authored many clinical research publications and presented at several national and international conferences in several areas of clinical infectious diseases.

Prior to leaving the Navy to relocate to New England, he was selected for promotion to Commander. He has been Board-certified in Infectious Disease since 2008 and Internal Medicine since 2006. He served as a Medical Corps officer in the US Navy and as a clinician educator as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Sebeny also led numerous infectious disease research projects in the United States, and with collaborators in Egypt, Africa, and the Middle East/Southwest Asia.

Dr. Sebeny is the Director of Infectious Disease Service and plays an active role in Infection Prevention and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committees at Anna Jaques Hospital. He evaluates and treats chronic wounds as part of a multidisciplinary team at the Anna Jaques Hospital Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine at Anna Jaques Hospital. He is available for consultation in the hospital or outpatient settings.
