About Dr. Pursley

Dr. Pursley is a board-certified pediatrician and neonatologist.  He is chief of Neonatology and director of the Klarman Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and a member of the Division of Newborn Medicine at Children’s Hospital Boston (CHB). He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed his post-graduate training in pediatrics at CHB and in neonatology in the Harvard program at BIDMC, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and CHB.

Dr. Pursley is the current chair of the Section on Perinatal Pediatrics for the American Academy of Pediatrics. His interests include NICU quality improvement, resource utilization, and racial and social disparities in infant outcomes.

Dr. Pursley provides care in the Anna Jaques Birth Center and Neonatal Care Center through the hospital’s clinical affiliation with BIDMC.
