High Quality Care, Low Risk of Infection

Patients often worry about the risk of infection when having any surgical procedure. Anna Jaques has had just one surgical site infection for elective hip and knee replacements in nearly two years, and is striving for zero. This is an accomplishment few hospitals ever achieve. Our patients can take comfort in knowing the likelihood of infection during an elective hip or knee replacement is quite low.

Robotic Arm Technology

For people suffering from knee and hip pain, robotic arm technology, a new alternative surgical procedure, is bringing much-needed relief for some patients. Learn more about this innovative new treatment option.

Private Rooms for Comfort and Safety

Orthopedic surgery patients who stay overnight are given a private room on the Institution for Savings Inpatient Unit to enhance comfort and healing after surgery. Anna Jaques is one of a small number of hospitals in Massachusetts to offer single-room availability for nearly all patients. Along with the most advanced care, we deliver personalized attention, compassion, and respect.

Successful Outcomes for Hips & Knees

A multidisciplinary team continues to ensure that patients who undergo hip and knee replacement surgery achieve the best possible outcomes. This team is focused on four factors to improve outcomes:

  • Pre-surgery education and evaluation by physical therapy to assure that patients are as ready as possible for surgery and the recovery process
  • Using anesthesia protocols that allow a quicker recovery to have early participation in physical therapy which improves recovery times
  • Standardizing pain management regimens so that patients are comfortable enough for their post-surgery therapy and limited side effects that may interfere with recovery
  • Assuring that patients are able to return to their home environment as soon as possible to avoid complications associated with hospitalization or rehabilitation facilities.
