About Dr. Rubenstein

Dr. Will Rubenstein is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Rubenstein focuses on both surgical and non-surgical treatments of hip and knee arthritis. He performs the entire spectrum of joint replacement surgeries including partial and total knee replacements, hip replacements, and revision hip and knee surgery.

Dr. Rubenstein was born and raised in Brookline, Massachusetts. He attended college at Yale University where he was a varsity swimmer and qualified and competed at the US national championships. He graduated cum laude with a double major in History and Economics.

Prior to his career in medicine, he worked at Bain & Company as a management consultant as well as at Major League Baseball in the league economics and strategy department. While at MLB, he worked with an array of orthopedic surgeons on projects related to player health, safety, and performance, which led him to pursue a career as an orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Rubenstein attended The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha society upon graduation. He completed his orthopedic residency training at the University of California San Francisco, one of the nation’s top-ranked programs in the field. At UCSF, Dr. Rubenstein was selected to lead a quality improvement initiative focused on reducing the time it took for patients with hip fractures to receive surgery. He has also published numerous academic articles and presented at national conferences on hip and knee arthroplasty clinical outcomes.

After UCSF, Dr. Rubenstein completed his hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. He trained under a number of national arthroplasty leaders, gaining expertise in a wide variety of areas including anterior hip replacements, partial knee replacements, robotic surgery, custom implants, and complex revision surgery. He performs outpatient surgery on a select group of patients whom he believes will benefit from same-day surgery.

Dr. Rubenstein’s practice philosophy is focused on understanding each patient’s individual goals and preferences and explaining their treatment options in a comprehensive but understandable manner. Ultimately, a patient will achieve their best outcomes only after clearly understanding the available treatment options and making an informed decision.
