Midwife Care

Caring, hands-on reproductive care

Personalized Care from Certified Nurse Midwives

Our growing team of certified nurse midwives believes that for most women, pregnancy and birth are normal, healthy events.

If you are low risk, we provide you with individualized care during your pregnancy, birth and after delivery. With our collaborative care model, we are also able to provide care to high-risk patients in collaboration with medical doctors.

What is a Certified Nurse Midwife?

A certified nurse midwife (CNM) holds a college degree in nursing and a master’s degree in nurse-midwifery. CNMs care for women during preconception, pregnancy, delivery and after birth.

Midwives provide routine reproductive care and gynecologic care, such as counseling on birth control, Pap tests and pelvic exams.

A Holistic Approach

Midwives support natural approaches to pregnancy and birth. Our team creates a strong connection with you and your family.

We provide personalized care that minimizes unnecessary interventions. Your CNM consults with the Birth Center doctors and specialists at Anna Jaques Hospital as needed to give you the best possible care.

You get access to the same tests, medications and procedures that an obstetrician/gynecologist (OB/GYN) provides.

Benefits of Midwifery

Midwives advocate for women’s health. Our team gives you this and other one-on-one support:

  • Assist you in talking with other members of your care team.
  • Explain your care options.
  • Help you make health care decisions.
  • Listen to your concerns.
  • Take the time to answer your questions.

Care from a certified nurse midwife is usually covered by most private insurance carriers, Medicaid, Medicare and managed care programs. Check with your insurance company to learn about your specific coverage.
